What Is an Issue Log? Templates & Tips
An issue log is a simple list or spreadsheet that helps managers track the issues that arise in a project and prioritize a response to them. It is an easy way to manage those issues that disrupt a project and resolve them before they develop into a problem that takes the project off track and grounds it in failure. Issue Number, Status, Description, Category, Priority, Assigned to, Raised by, Open Date, Closed Date, and Comments are important for tracking issues. It is important to note whether the issue is open, in progress, blocked or done, and to prioritize them. It is also important to note the team member who is assigned to follow the issue to its resolution. Finally, it is important to jot down important information like how the issue was resolved, whether it was connected to another task, and the likelihood of recurrence.
