Vitual AGMs and Electronic voting are here to stay!

The "Less Red Tape, Stronger Economy Act" (Bill 91) has received royal assent, amending the Condo Act in Ontario. These changes will come into effect on October 1, 2023. The amendments will permit condominiums to hold virtual or hybrid meetings, allow electronic voting, and facilitate the sending of notices and documents to owners. These changes will not require passing a by-law, but corporations will have the flexibility to adjust or restrict these provisions to meet their specific needs. Board meetings and owners' meetings can be held virtually or in a hybrid manner, and electronic voting options, including modern methods like fax, will be available. The amendments aim to enhance efficiency and adapt to modern technologies in the condominium industry.
