Update – Ministerial Order 009/2020 Expired: Condos Once More Required to Convene AGMs

Article Summary:

The Service Alberta has released a new publication, "General Meetings During Relaunch," clarifying the effect of the expired Ministerial Order 009/2020 on condo corporations. The Ministerial Order had temporarily suspended the requirement for condos to convene an annual general meeting (AGM) within 15 months from the last AGM. However, the suspension has been lifted, and condos must now find ways to adhere to legislated time frames and public health restrictions on large gatherings. Condos may consider holding electronic meetings, but the bylaws of the corporation should first be consulted to determine if an electronic meeting of the owners is permitted.
