The new hot seat – the electric (meeting) chair

The Condo Act has been temporarily amended during the COVID-19 pandemic to allow condos to hold electronic meetings and vote without a by-law. The chair of an electronic owners’ meeting is important in keeping the meeting on track and ensuring participation. Lawyers are often appointed as chairs to provide structure and support to keep meetings running smoothly. Condo boards should consider passing an electronic communication by-law to allow for e-meetings and e-voting in the future.
