The Energy and Water Reporting and Benchmarking (EWRB) initiative in Ontario requires owners of large buildings to report their energy and water consumption annually. A proposed amendment to O.Reg 506/18 aims to halt further rollout of the program to buildings under 100,000 square feet. The amendment would make reporting voluntary for buildings under the size threshold, allowing them to access reporting tools and benefit from tracking energy and water consumption. Stakeholders can provide input until December 12, 2019. Additionally, CCI-Toronto's Legislative Committee thanks members for feedback on insurance challenges faced by condominium communities and declares it a top priority for 2020.
