Legislative Newsflash Ontario - New Pool Regulations - Jan 2019

The Health Protection and Promotion Act's Regulation 565, governing public swimming pools and spas, was amended in 2018, and it applies to condominium corporations with six or more units, regardless of public access. Condominium pools generally fall under Class B pools and must comply with various requirements, including designating a trained operator, maintaining water clarity and pH, keeping records, enforcing capacity limits, providing emergency facilities and equipment, and having lifeguards for larger pools. Condominium corporations are advised to hire qualified personnel to act as pool operators to ensure compliance with the regulations.
