Article Summary:

The CCI-Toronto Legislative Committee provides important reminders for condominium communities during the 2019 Federal Elections. Condominiums must allow candidates and their representatives reasonable access for canvassing and distributing election materials in accordance with the Canada Elections Act and the Condominium Act, 1998. Candidates have the right to leave materials in a tidy manner on the property, and signage restrictions may not prohibit owners and residents from displaying advertising in their own units. Some condominium corporations may be selected as polling stations, and non-compliance with election requirements may result in financial penalties.
