Legislative Newsflash Ontario - EWRB – Article 1 Energy Treasure Hunt - July 2020

The CondoVoice releases a legislative newsflash about the EWRB (Energy and Water Reporting and Benchmarking) initiative by the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines in Ontario. The initiative aims to help condominium corporations track their energy and water consumption to identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities. Buildings over 100,000 sq. ft. are required to report their energy and water consumption by July 1 of each year, but due to COVID-19 challenges, the submission deadline for 2020 reports is extended to October 1. Smaller buildings (between 50,000 and 100,000 sq. ft.) have a delayed roll-out until 2023 but can voluntarily participate in reporting. Building owners are encouraged to use the ENERGY STAR "Energy Treasure Hunt" checklist to find low-cost opportunities for energy and water conservation.
