Publication date:

Article Summary:

The Ministry of Energy in Ontario has introduced the Energy and Water Reporting Benchmarking Program (EWRB) with mandatory reporting requirements for buildings over 50,000 sq. ft. This legislation, originally part of the Green Energy Act, now falls under the Electricity Act and came into force on January 1, 2019. Condominium corporations must comply with the reporting requirements related to energy and water consumption. The Ministry will conduct an outreach program to help condominium corporations register for reporting. Condominium corporations should update their contact information and obtain both an MPAC and EWRB reporting number. The first report is due by July 1, 2019, and annually thereafter. CCI-Toronto is advocating for simplifying the program and providing support and education to the condominium industry.
