Article Summary:

The Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) has announced changes to the education requirements for condominium managers, effective from November 1, 2021. The responsibility for education will be transferred to the Registrar of the CMRAO from the Minister of Government and Consumer Services. The CMRAO has developed a competency profile for managers in Ontario, comprising 79 core competencies, and introduced a new curriculum with six courses to ensure these competencies are covered. The new courses include topics such as Excellence in Condo Management, Working with Condo Law, Relationship Building, Physical Building Management, Managing Financials, and Operational Quality. Applicants for a limited license will need to complete the Excellence in Condo Management course before their application can be approved. Existing general license holders will not be required to take the new courses but will have to fulfill new continuing education requirements after November 2021.
