Legislative Newsflash: New Minister and Renamed Ministry Overseeing the Condominium Act

Following the June 2nd, 2022 provincial election, the Ontario government announced on June 24th, 2022, that the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services has been renamed as the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (MPBSD). This ministry is now responsible for overseeing the Condominium Act and the Condominium Management Services Act. The new Minister leading the MPBSD is the Honourable Kaleed Rasheed. The Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO) and the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) are delegated administrative authorities that report to the MPBSD. The MPBSD is also responsible for the Regulations under the Condominium Act and may be looking into expanding the authority of the CAO-operated Condominium Authority Tribunal (CAT).
