Legislative Newsflash: COVID-19 Passports/Certificates And QR Codes And Other Announcements

Article Summary:

The Ontario government announced that effective September 22nd, proof of full vaccinations and vaccine passports (referred to as "certificates") are required for certain public places like restaurants, casinos, and movie theatres. However, residential condominium corporations are not subject to this mandatory order as they are considered private dwellings and not open to the public. The decision to mandate vaccinations and proof through passports within a condominium community is up to each Board of Directors based on their community's needs and best interests. The government introduced the "Verify Ontario" app with QR codes for proof of vaccination, available from October 15th, 2021. Condominium residents who do not have a smartphone can continue to provide proof in the same manner as before the launch of QR codes.
