Human-Centric Lighting

Article Summary:

Human-centric lighting (HCL) is a focus on lighting to improve the well-being of individuals in a building. With people spending more time indoors, exposure to natural light is limited, which can disrupt our internal time clock, mood, health and productivity. HCL seeks to emulate natural lighting and avoid disrupting the internal time clock by varying the intensity and color of light throughout the day. Studies show that people in HCL areas report being in a better mood, more energetic and healthier. HCL systems are more common in commercial buildings, but can also provide benefits in homes.
