How To Plan A Remodel When Prices Are Rising

Renovation quotes can be higher than expected and prices can rise mid-project, so it is important to be prepared and flexible. Three professionals on Houzz spoke to Houzz to find out how price increases are affecting their projects and learn tips homeowners can use to mitigate those costs. Conor Brady of Des Ewing Residential Architects and Jonathan Brady of RHJB Architects both noted that material costs, supply issues and increased demand have seen a general increase in contractors' prices. However, these costs can be mitigated by the increase in property values. It is also important to find a fixed-price contract to provide clients with a more stable plan.
When hiring an architect, it is important to take time to plan and hire someone who can draw up the project at a high level of detail and manage it properly on site. To offset rising costs, it is also important to consider alternative materials and methods, such as thermally insulated SIP panels for the roof and walls, prefab construction, standardization, alternative suppliers and "off-the-shelf" products. The key is to ask your professional for their expertise to create a bespoke space in an efficient and considered way.
