Filing Transitional Returns

Author:
Denise Lash
Publication date:
March 21, 2018
Article Summary:

Condominium corporations in Ontario are required to file online returns with the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO) under the amendments to the Condominium Act. The first of these returns, the transitional return, is due on March 31, 2018. The CAO began e-mailing invitations to condo corporations on March 1, 2018, allowing access to the condo returns online filing system. Managers can file the return by logging into the CAO website using their assigned username and password, selecting the condo corporation they wish to file for and following the instructions. The transitional return is straightforward and user-friendly, unlike many other mandatory forms. The registrar's publicly available and searchable database is set to be up and running by April 1, 2018, containing the information found in these returns.
