Electronic Voting For Condominium Corporations- No Proxies Required!

The Amendments to the Condominium Act permit condominium corporations to allow owner voting by telephonic or electronic means with the help of an Electronic Voting By-law. Electronic voting is different from online proxies, and it eliminates the need for proxies, making it easier for all unit owners to participate in the voting process. Once the by-law is put in place, the corporation no longer needs to use proxies. The process is easy, efficient, secure, and anonymous, ensuring only one vote per owner. A condominium corporation can pass the Electronic Voting By-law with a majority vote of those units represented in person or by proxy at an owner's meeting, as long as there is a quorum of 25%. It is recommended that all condominium corporations pass an Electronic Voting By-law and review it with their legal counsel.
