Electronic Meeting Attendance And Voting: What Is Permitted?

The amended Condominium Act, 1998 allows condominium corporations to pass a by-law authorizing owners to attend meetings electronically and/or vote electronically, but it is unclear whether the electronic voting can be done without using a proxy or if the owner must be present during the meeting to participate. The author likes electronic voting, but highlights the practical concerns of participation during the meeting, and suggests that until a Court provides direction on the issue, electronic attendance and voting are simply methods by which an owner can participate and/or vote during the meeting.
