Ontario has announced new protections and changes to the Condominium Act (Condo Act) and the Condominium Management Services Act (CMSA) to increase consumer protection and improve governance in condos. The changes include increased transparency, accountability of condo boards, establishment of the Condominium Authority Tribunal, licensing of condo managers, and administrative designations for the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO) and the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO). Changes will take effect on November 1, 2017, and February 1, 2018.
