Cross-Team Collaboration: Best Practices, Challenges and Benefits

Cross-Team Collaboration, also known as cross-functional collaboration, is the key to connecting different departments to work better together. It takes everyone's strengths and combines them for a better deliverable. It creates synergy and efficiency in a cross-functional project, and creates faster project progress and more eyes on the project to catch anything that might have been overlooked. Communication across hybrid teams ensures everyone is working towards the same goal. Cross-team collaboration has many benefits, such as better ideas, more connected teams, and a larger pool of talent.

However, there are challenges to cross-team collaboration, such as lack of trust, silos, and communication issues. Project managers must create communication channels that flow freely, have a shared vision, and ensure that goals and priorities are aligned across all departments. Teams also have different personalities, and online communication can be difficult to understand. Collaboration tools can help, but it is a soft skill that project managers must master in order to get individuals acting as a group.
