Condo Documents Affect All Residents

Condo living can be frustrating due to the lack of interest in the corporation's governing documents, such as the declaration, by-laws, rules, and the Condo Act. These documents are an integral part of condo living and establish a minimum level of transparency, clarify in-suite limitations, and identify condo corporation maintenance obligations. However, many condo owners choose not to read these documents until something happens that they don't like. Condo directors and management can educate condo owners to avoid problems and misunderstandings. Condo owners who take time to read and understand these documents are the most helpful to the corporation and are more likely to participate as directors or on committees.
