Carpet Mold: How To Deal With It?

Mold is a fungus that has the ability to spread infectious spores and can grow and develop into mold. Moisture and high humidity levels can lead to severe mold growth in damp places, such as poorly ventilated rooms and wet basements. Carpets are also prone to mold growth, which is why it is important to pay attention and properly clean or check them. The most common types of carpet mold are black mold, white mold, and orange mold. Black mold is caused by dry air, high humidity, and dampness, while white mold can be caused by natural processes like rain or high humidity, as well as external sources like pets and children playing outside.

Orange mold is the root cause of the excessive moisture content of carpets, as it feeds on organic matter like spores and dead skin cells. Green mold is a fungus that thrives in moist environments and can cause diseases such as cancer, allergies, respiratory diseases and more. To prevent carpet mold, it is important to check your carpet condition and hire a carpet cleaner once a month to remove any extra moisture. Additionally, put extractor fans close to every heating unit in a humid home and use carpet made with natural fibers.
