CAGBC’s Disclosure Challenge Advances Building Performance Benchmarking

The Canada Green Building Council's (CAGBC) Disclosure Challenge has invited real estate leaders to publicly disclose their building's available energy, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water data. The first year of the Disclosure Challenge saw five large portfolio owners collectively holding more than CAD $50 billion in managed real estate assets participate. Six additional commercial property owners/managers representing $60 billion CAD in managed assets joined in 2022. Participants disclosed information from over 700 building assets representing more than 11 million square meters of building space. The Disclosure Challenge is an ongoing initiative that promotes data accessibility and transparency in the Canadian real estate market.
