Apartment and Condo Waste Changes

The City of Edmonton is implementing changes to waste collection for apartments and condos over the next four years. The changes will introduce food scraps and recycling collection alongside regular garbage collection. The goal is to reduce waste and emissions by providing residents with the ability to sort waste into three streams. All three waste containers must be located near each other and equally accessible to residents. The first phase of the rollout will begin in southeast Edmonton, and property managers in the area will receive information letters and resources to help residents adjust to the change. The City is working with property managers to ensure all properties can accommodate the three-stream waste collection. Educational materials and tools are provided by the City to help communicate the changes to residents. Property managers are encouraged to use these resources and assist in educating residents about the new waste collection process.
