Effectiveness Of The Condominium Authority Tribunal

The Condominium Authority Tribunal (CAT) is Canada's first online tribunal for resolving condominium-related disputes. The CAT is part of the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO), which oversees online training for condo directors and manages communication in condominium communities. The CAT handles a caseload of fewer than three cases per week, but approximately two-thirds of cases are resolved through negotiation or mediation without the need for a tribunal decision. However, the lack of transparency and solid data from the CAO raises concerns about the effectiveness of the CAT.
