Article Summary:

What Is an Implementation Plan & How Do I Create One?

An implementation plan is a project management tool that facilitates the execution of a strategic plan for a company or project by breaking down the implementation process into smaller steps and defining the timeline, teams and resources that will be needed. It is done on an organizational level, dictating the direction of the company strategy and allocating resources to make that strategy come to life. There is no standard one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to creating an implementation plan, but we've created an implementation plan outline for your projects. Project Goals & Objectives, Success Criteria, Scope Statement, Resource Plan, Risk Analysis, Implementation Timeline, Milestones, Team Roles & Responsibilities, KPIs, OKRs, and Performance Metrics are all important components of an implementation plan. The project goal is the ultimate goal of the project, while the objectives are the key milestones or achievements that must be completed to reach it.

The project manager must reach an agreement with stakeholders to define the project success criteria, and the scope statement outlines the project scope. The resource plan outlines the human resources, equipment and materials needed for the project, and the risk analysis outlines the risk. The implementation timeline needs a clear project timeline to be executed properly, and the key milestones need to be identified.
