How to Keep Your Kitchen Sink Looking Great

Stainless steel is the most popular choice for a kitchen sink, but it is prone to scratching and hard water. To keep stainless sparkling, wash the sink regularly with mild dish soap and a sponge or soft rag, and use a stainless steel cleaner or polish about once a week. To protect it, you may want to keep a grid on the bottom to protect it from scratching during daily use. To prevent blueing, add water to the sink before putting a hot pan in, and never put a hot, dry pan directly in the sink. Granite composite sinks are made of 80% granite and 20% acrylic resin, and are resistant to heat, stains, scratches and chips.

They come in a range of colors, but be aware that lighter composites can stain and darker colors camouflage food scum best. They are prone to stains from waterborne minerals, which can dull the finish over time. If you dent your stainless sink, there is nothing you can do, and your sink will have a dent.
